East New Britain Governor Michael Marum, recently handed over two new school trucks to Raluana Primary School in Kokopo District and George Brown High School in Gazelle District, reinforcing the provincial governmentâs ongoing investment in education.
Each vehicle, valued at K165, 000 and fully funded by the provincial government, was presented as part of efforts to support schools across the province.
The Governor was joined by member for Gazelle Jelta Wong, as well as local government representatives, school boards, community leaders, members of the United Church, parents, teachers, and students.
He described the trucks as a gift from the people of East New Britain to strengthen education services.
Governor Marum also highlighted the alignment of the initiative with the Marape-Rosso governmentâs policy focus on education, acknowledging the national governmentâs continued commitment to the sector.
He called on school boards, parents, teachers, and the wider community to take ownership of the vehicles, ensuring they are properly maintained for the long-term benefit of students.
In appreciation, the Principal of George Brown High School and the Head Teacher of Raluana Primary School described the trucks as the âbest Independence giftâ for their schools, saying the vehicles would greatly support learning programs and school activities.
Governor Marum reiterated that education as a top priority for the provincial government.
âThese trucks are not just vehicles; they are tools to support the learning and growth of our children. May God bless our children, our schools, and our province.â
