EKI VAKI PRIMARY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES ITS GRADE 8 EXAMINATION

Eki Vaki Primary School in Port Moresby city has successfully completed its Grade 8 national examination where 244 students sat for it this week.

Head Teacher Mr. Henao Koregai confirmed the figure is down from an initial enrolment of 265 at the start of the year, with roughly half male and half female students sitting for the Grade 8 National Examination.

The examinations ran smoothly with no disruptions, with external invigilators from Tokarara Primary School assisting on the final day.

On preparations, Mr. Koregai said the school conducted extra coaching classes and four mock exams using past papers, with parents supporting students at home in preparation for the examination. The exam week ran smoothly despite prior challenges in organizing materials and seating places for the large number of candidates.

Mr. Koregai said the school year has been challenging as well for the student with the El Nino induced dry weather which saw school hours cut short and students sent home early due to the very dry weather conditions.

On discipline, Mr. Koregai acknowledged it remains an ongoing issue as in many schools in and around Port Moresby.

Nevertheless, Mr. Koregai is optimistic of good results, predicting more than 100 students will be selected to secondary schools, building on Eki Vaki's reputation as one of the top performing primary schools in NCD.

The Grade 8 National Examination concluded today with English Paper two.
