BNBM PNG LIMITED DONATES TO CANCER WARD

BNBM PNG Limited has continued its community outreach with a second donation to the Port Moresby General Hospital, marking its eighth community donation for 2026.

The donation was carried out at the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department, Ward 9, in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on Friday 23rd of October.

BNBM representatives visited the ward and distributed 50 gift hampers containing essential toiletries and goods, valued at up to K4,500.

The hampers were handed out throughout the ward as a gesture of care, comfort and support for women receiving treatment and medical care.

BNBM says the initiative forms part of its broader community engagement program, recognizing Breast Cancer Awareness Month as an opportunity to show solidarity with women affected by cancer and other health challenges.

While the items are practical essentials, the company said the donation was also intended to send a message of encouragement that patients are valued, supported and not alone.

The response from patients was deeply moving, with many women visibly emotional and happy to receive the hampers and personal interaction from the team.

Bernadette Hamon, from Manus who is a patient at Ward 9, said the kind gesture portrayed in the ward was a testament that there are still people out there who care about patients in the ward.

"I'm happy to see the team come in to visit the sick patients, I am sure other patients are happy too. It's good to see you remember us the patients at the ward," Bernadette said.

BNBM representatives described the experience as an honour, saying they appreciated the chance to stand alongside patients and offer meaningful support.

The company, best known for hardware and home improvement products, said the Ward 9 initiative reinforces its ongoing commitment to supporting people in need.

BNBM hopes that the donation brings comfort to the patients and serves as a reminder that the community stands with them.
