A passenger has raised concerns over the airport parking fee collection process at Jacksons International Airport car park, alleging inconsistent enforcement of the short-stay parking rules.
David Stevens said he encountered difficulties after he dropped off his in-law to exchange money at BSP currency exchange counter in the international terminal before travelling to the domestic terminal carpark to wait, knowing they would not be charged.
According to Stevens, the vehicle dropped him off briefly before driving away.
He said his in-law intended to complete his transaction and return shortly.
However, when the vehicle returned, the women managing the international car park payment section reportedly instructed security personnel at the entrance to have the driver return, claiming the vehicle had been parked for more than 15 minutes.
Stevens questioned the explanation, saying he believed the vehicle had not exceeded the permitted short-stay period.
The two women at the counter said they had removed the K3 fee charged after the confrontation.
He expressed concern that passengers and motorists could be facing inconsistent parking fee enforcement, describing the experience as frustrating for members of the travelling public.
"If it's less than one minute to 10, it's free. But here, they're giving us something else," Stevens said.
He has called on the National Airports Corporation (NAC) and airport management to investigate the matter and clarify how the parking fees and time limits are being applied.
Stevens said the issue needs to be addressed to prevent other passengers from experiencing similar difficulties.
