After prominent businessman Mr. James Peng was recently bestowed the prestigious Award of Chief (GCL) by the State, recognizing his outstanding service and contribution to the country’s corporate division, East New Britain Governor Michael Marum congratulated Peng describing him as a ‘shining example of a locally grown entrepreneur’.
“Starting from the modest roots of the old Tibur shop in Kokopo, James built his business with dedication, humility, and perseverance—expanding from East New Britain to Port Moresby and now reaching customers nationwide. This recognition is truly well-deserved.”
He emphasized that Mr. Peng’s leadership has not only created jobs but also strengthened local supply chains and contributed to economic growth at both the provincial and national levels.
“On behalf of the East New Britain Provincial Government and our people, I congratulate him and his family on this remarkable achievement.”
“He continues to make our province proud and serves as an inspiration to young entrepreneurs across the country.”
Governor Marum expressed his appreciation for the distinguished guests, community leaders, business representatives, church leaders, and families who gathered in Kokopo to mark the important occasion.
He also extended special thanks to Mr. Peng, Mrs. Peng, and their family for hosting the event.
